Top: Xixi’s old pacifier being magnate on our fridge. Hahaha! It was Mummy’s idea; Daddy’s creation. =)
Bottom: Xixi’s new pacifier bought from daddy few days ago.

Xixi spoiled her pacifier by bite it to broken last week. Although at first I have no intention to buy her new pacifier at all, but to avoid any sleepless night, hubby finally bought a pair of pacifier from Jusco few days ago. Actually I tends to wean Xixi off from pacifier since long ago, but honestly I don’t know how. A friend of mine told me her daughter (1month younger than Xixi) no longer need a soother since half year ago, I was so impressed! For me weaning off pacifier is even tougher than potty training! You know how difficult for Xixi to sleep without a pacifier? The worst thing is she will wake up middle of the night to look for her drop-off pacifier! There were few times I told her no more pacifier for her, I throw away the “tu-tu”(she called pacifier as tu-tu) already or gave it to the “meow-meow” (kitty) outside our house. She was okay at first but after a while she will start asking for her “tu-tu” and kept saying “meow-meow” taken her “tu-tu” already then continue by sobbing pitifully… Aiyoh how can I resist seeing her sobbing like that??

These few days she seems knowing she broke her tu-tu already. Every time she asked for it, she told me “tu-tu 坏!爸爸买!” means her tu-tu spoilt already, asked daddy to buy! But then I told her tu-tu is for small baby. Xixi is a big girl now no longer needs tu-tu. So last night I and hubby decided to DIY her old pacifier (I didn’t throw away her old pacifier) to fridge magnet to see what her reaction the next morning.

This morning when she was told where her tu-tu is, these are her reaction:

Hahaha! She get angry when knowing the tu-tu is not suck-able! But yet she was happily playing with the magnet but kept asking for new tu-tu. Till this afternoon before put her to nap, she was asking for tu-tu again, I told her to get it from the fridge... hahaha! (Still didn't want to show her new pacifier) But then she spotted the new pacifier on the table by herself, straight away she grabbed it and put it into her mouth and happily went into her dreamland...

She was trying to do the "vitcory" gesture, but look at her hand... kind of funny huh! :D

Then midnight keep cry sleep, cry sleep, no request milk for the night. Haiz! So pity see her crying so now i have no choice to let her have pacifier during her sleep time. Hope one day she will free from pacifier.

Haha, the tutu magnet was cute, brilliant idea, can make like collection.

Talking about weaning off tutu, honestly I still remembered i have my tutu until I'm 6! And how my parents wean me off? I remembered 1 night my tutu was broken, so my dad throw it away, and that night I sleep without tutu, I remembered I cried out loud! Until I fall asleep. The next day, I dint ask for tutu anymore.

I'm not sure aobut Xixi, may be you can just try not to give her for night sleep. If she cry, just SABAR. See how she process lo.. Every kids different. Like me, only weaned after 6.. Haha.. MALU eh..

it's a brilliant idea as for the fridge magnet!

totally agree, weaning pacifier is no easy task. my heart have to be 'force' to be hard as rock in order to wean my girl when she was 18 months.

Mummygwen,
Ya lah.. after that i was so regret!! You know the magnet really remind her of her tu-tu!! Keep asking for that.. Adoi!

Mummymoon,
Simple. Cut the pacifier teat then use double side type to stick it together with magnet. Thats all. As for the magnet, I bought it from Daiso Singapore. Xixi was okay with Avent pacifier since born wor.. don't know hows others teat like =)

Kiko,
Thanks.

Mummy Ryan,
Welcome to my blog and thanks for your comment. Ya, I agree with you.. once get addicted its very hard to wean it off... So, if possible don't ever let them try it since born. So good your boy doesn't want pacifier automatically! you can save the headache....

Peiwun,
Ya, magnet pacies collection! haha.. but that will keep reminding her for it la.. alamak, Sean also wake up to look for his pacifier ah? I guess you have to spare one more pacifier when bed time.

Ping,
Just follow her own pace lor.. weaning off prosess is one of the thoughest!! I guess..

Stacey,
Aiyoh.. cry on the floor? Xixi will toss over the bed if got no pacifier for her.. see la, pacifier is definitely our enemy! haha..

Sharon,
Yes, kids stuff are cute and nice plus PRICEY!! You will know better one day when you become mother.

Bonnie,
Really ah? You got your tutu till 6? Wow, must thanks the broken tutu, so at last you got to wean it off.

Stephanie,
Ya, many peoples telling me must HARD HEARTED! Just ignored and sabar if she cry.. guess the result will be effective. But i just can't resist see her crying... hoohoo..

Steff, Doreen,
Haha.. thanks =)

Olive,
So you may recycle DQ old pacifier to fridge magnet one day lor. Ya, I love that picture too, she looks so natural without her signature "mi-mi" eyes. hahah! =)

Creative idea! I have seen it from forum before, but never try it...
It is the nicest magnet that I have ever seen. Cute!

May I know for Xixi, will she request for pacifier when she is not going to bed?
I also thought to wean off Sarah with it, coz I noticed she is now less depends on it when she is not sleeping. But I also know this is a tough one, so keeps pending....

Good idea for making it into fridge magnet, but remember if you plan to wean her off one day, you got to remove all out of her sight.

There are few ways I heard some mommies, you can cut bit by bit the teat and tell her it broken so have to throw away till can't suck anymore. Second, if she afraid dirty, you can put milo powder or coffee powder..taste funny one which she don't like is better, you told her is dirty, also got to throw away...or try play some promises, if no tutu, buy something for her or reward her sweets..and etc...anyway, just try n see if she ready to wean off...

I never try it before, coz my boy not having paci at all since 3 months old..

Joanne, Xixi only suck her paci when sleeping time. Other than that she never ask for paci. Its tough to wean off pacifier, but keep trying, i believe one day we will success =)

Judy, thanks so much for the tips. Shall try it out one day =) So lucky Terry not has paci since young! No headache how to wean it off.
